I was out of town for my usual Crush's Zoo spot last week, so I signed up to do a show tonight so I could get in on that tasty pledge drive (if you haven't pledged...go to KBCZ.org and get it cracking!). Glad I did, because I got to meet local Americana artist Steve Bennett and hear him play a few tunes.
Steve's a California cowboy, raised on the Bakersfield Sound -- always a big plus in my book, he really found his happy place when he stumbled upon those great post-Nashville Sound records in the late 60s and early 70s. Steve seemed like a nice enough guy, but when he pulled out his guitar and started picking and singing I was blown away. This guy has PIPES. I loved just sitting back and listening to his own songs, wotta great time to be in the studio and to be a part of the great stuff happening at KBCZ. Anyway, here's the interview and Steve's songs, please check 'em out:
If you like what you hear, be sure to give his Reverbnation page a spin at https://www.reverbnation.com/WildandBlue. He plays live with his daughter as Wild and Blue, has a weekly residence at the Roaring Camp Railroad in Fenton, and has a bunch of shows coming up...including some at Boulder Creek's own Joe's Bar. Find it all at that page... Thanks for coming in, Steve!
